Rubrics
A rubric is an outline for grading.  The Mathematics Department of AHS -- along with the other academic departments -- has developed a school-wide problem solving rubric for open response problems. 

Rubrics for projects are specific to the assignment and are included in the project handout given to the students.

The rubic shown below is a slightly modified verions of the departmental rubic that I use for standard response questions.  This is the rubric I use for grading standard response questions on tests and quizzes.

  • Answer is correct and obtained using proper methods
  • Work is shown

  • Answer contains a minor error that is not essential to the lesson and was obtained using the proper methods.
  • Work is shown

  • Answer is correct, but no work is shown
    OR
  • Answer is incorrect, but obtained using most of the proper methods AND
  • Work is shown
5
  • Answer is incorrect and did not use proper methods, but a logical attempt was made
2
  • Answer is incorrect with no logical attempt
