Demonstration and picket-line in front of the
Russian Embassy in Den Haag
In favor of:

  • An Immediate end to the war in Chechnya
  • Freedom for the Chechen people
  • Withdrawal of all Russian troops from the Caucasus
  • Abolition of all Russian military bases on the Caucasus

Text of the pamphlet:
Stop the Russian intervention on the Caucasus!!!

The war in Chechnya is only one of the results of the Russian presence in the Caucasus. In spite of a possible case-fire in Chechnya, Chechen people still does not have its freedom. Under the influence of the policy of Moscow in Georgia there is still a great repression. Recently Russia put into use a number of military bases in Georgia.

On the Caucasus Russia is behaving like an occupying power and neglects the right to freedom and independence.

Fore these reasons on the 28th of August there was a demonstration and picket-line in front of the Russian Embassy in Den Haag. During this picket-line MP of Georgia-in- exile Mr. Sh.Tsiklauri presented petition to the Russian ambassador in the Netherlands containing a number of demands, which can be taken together as an appeal to stop the Russian policy of intervention on the Caucasus.

The demonstration was organized by the:

  •  Netherlands Helsinki Union,
  •  Zviad Gamsakhurdia Society in the Netherlands,
  •  Solidarity Committee Netherlands-Chechnya
  •  Congress of the Chechen Diaspora
  •  With participation of Representative of Ingush Republic in Germany Mr.M.Bekov
