An appeal

No state committing genocide can be an olympic participant

Vilnius                                                                                                                     31 July 2000

The communist genocide has not ended with the collapse of the Soviet Empire.  Imperial Russia is conducting a colonial war, continuing military crimes, and committing genocide in the Chechen Republic/Ichkeria.

Russia’s participation in the World Olympic Games, which in essence is an expression of the brotherhood of mankind, would desecrate the treasure of common humanity.  During the war in Afghanistan, the world did not fraternise with Russia and boycotted the Olympic Games.  Has the world changed during the last 20 years?

We demand that the Russian Federation, which is ignoring the International Rights of Man and carrying out the genocide of the Chechen nation, be banned from participating in the Sidney Olympic Games.
