POEMS/You...

YOU
Nov. 3, 2001

Under the bleak night sky,
Sitting by the terrace,
A conversation took a turn,
and found it's way to you.
Then my mind drifted,
remembering the past years ago,
and wondered what now would be,
if life had been more generous.
would you be here with us,
talking about the present,
and contemplating the future?
if time had been more gracious,
would you have felt love,
felt you've finally found
a place to belong to?
more than a decade after,
i still ask myself,
if you had stayed here,
would you have lived?

insight My sis and I were sitting by the terrace one night talking about how things have changed; how everything's so different now. then we remembered Jigs, our late cousin who died more than 10 years ago and we wondered what really caused his death. Was it really pneumonia, as his fake-relative told us? We never really knew. What's sad is, his mom and dad couldn't even find time to visit him at Rolling Hills, where his remains are. Every November 1, we'd stop by there to put some flowers and light some candles. It seem we were the only one who remember him. We could only stay for less than an hour because we still had to go to Saravia where Dad's relatives' remains are. I hope, wherever Jigs is now, he'd know that we haven't forgotten him.
