AIN'T NOBODY'S FOOL

I remember myself smiling
When you told me about love
And the wondrous feeling
And how it makes everything
Look so pure and beautiful

I felt the comical disbelief
When you said that it is me
Whom you want to spend forever
When you said you knew it's me
You've been waiting for all along

I laughed at your face
When you said you won't grow tired
And leave me there in the cold
That you'll stay by my side always
And what we have is real

I patiently smiled at you
Told you I'm too smart and clever
To ever fall victim to such lies
I left you standing there, saying
"This girl ain't nobody's fool"

Now aboard the craft I sit still
For deep within my soul's recess
I know and believe you're right
And I know I am nobody's fool
Because I'm just a plain fool


insight (July 20, 2003) Some part of me have always believed that I'll fall in love someday.. but that I'd be too afraid to face it and that instead of acknowledging it, I'd turn away and run, with a thousand and one reasons why it'll never work & why it's not meant to be...
