FAQs

Q: What are the Cricket Oscars?

A: Cricket Oscars are UNOFFICIAL awards that this site gives to current cricketers. It is a way to find out who people consider the best among the rest. Not only do the participants get to vote, they also compete amongst themselves. The one whose choice of players matches most with the final winning players' list, is the winner of the competition! Currently, the voting is on for year 2002-2003.

Q: How can I vote for the Cricket Oscars?

A: A form page is provided to you which shows all the various categories and respective nominees. All you need to do is type in the text box the name of the player who you think deserves that particular award.

Q: Can I leave some text boxes blank?

A: It is necessary to type in your email and advisable to type your name so that you can be intimated about the results. Also, if you don't give me a contact addy, how will I inform you if you happen to win!! As far as the various categories are concerned, you may choose not to vote for one/more, but that definitely reduces your chances of winning!

Q: How are the votes calculated?

A: Your votes are entered into a database and 1 point is awarded to each player for whom you have voted. The player (in each category) with the highest number of points is the winner. Eventually, the final result is compared with each participant's choice of players and whosoever has the maximum number of votes matching with the final list of cricketers, is the winner. Simple!!

Q: Say I am the winner, what prize do I get?

A: I can't be handing out cash awards peeps, you see I am not earning a penny from this site! So I am quite entitled not to spend big bucks on the prize too! Maybe I could look for a sponsor someday, but for now - a page for your favorite cricketer on this site is what you get!

Q: What happens in case of a tie?

A: Ties can happen in two ways -

  • 2 or more players in a particular category get the same number of votes OR
  • 2 or more participants have the same number of votes matching with the winning players' list

I do not believe in tossing a coin or drawing out straws to find the winner. If there are more than 1 winners, let it be! Both (or more) of the players get that award and both (or more) participants get their favorite player pages

Q: Is my information and votes used anywhere else?

A: NO. Your name, email address and the votes are kept confidential and I can assure you that your mail address will not be used to send spam!

Q: Are the awards fair?

A: Yes, the Cricket Oscars are awarded without any bias or prejudice. It is purely based on the votes received and if you think a particular award went to a less deserving player, don't blame me! It is you people who vote, my job is only to count them and post the result!
