It keeps bugging me....why can't girls appreciate cricket!!! Not that all the girls are like this but yes 90% of them surely find cricket as something from a distant planet. (Thankfully I and all my friends belong to the 10% category!!).  I have tried talking with many of these so called 'I don't watch cricket' type of girls to find out why they are the way they are and these were a few of the reasons they gave :

Girls don't play cricket...then what's the point in watching it. I want to ask all of you who say this - Are all people who visit museums artists? Or for that matter all those who watch films are actors? I am sure you appreciate some sort of music. Then do all of you also compose or sing? The point I'm trying to make here is that to enjoy something you don't necessarily have to practice it. Cricket is so wonderful to watch and not playing it doesn't take away anything from the sheer pleasure of following the game. And I must also tell you - There are women's cricket teams and we even have a Women's Cricket World Cup. So your presumption that females do not play cricket isn't true. I agree you won't see too many girls playing the game in your neighborhood but things are changing for the better. And be a part of it!!

There are simply too many terms in the game...I find it hard to follow. Well my friends, I do agree that you may have trouble differentiating 'Point' from 'Silly Point', 'Cover' from 'Extra Cover' initially. Finding that a bowler type is  'Leg Break' might even scare you!! But with time you'll learn the nuances of the game. Judging from my experience, all you need to see are 2 one-dayers and 1 Test match and you will have no trouble again with the terminology of cricket.

It takes days to find the outcome of a match....I'd rather do something else. You must have experienced some time in your life that things which bring delight are often momentary. But thankfully for cricket, it provides you with 5 full days of pure uninterrupted bliss What more could you ask for !!!! And for those who think that they are too busy to enjoy for 5 days, we have a  shorter version known as 'One Dayers'. - More excitement in less time, satisfaction guaranteed (Goodness me!! I have even started advertising for the game!!)

Its better to watch movies instead....I get to see gorgeous men This was the silliest of all excuses. Come on!!! Its cricket where you will find the most good looking guys. In movies, the men are acting...pretending but in cricket whatever the guys do is for real. What is sexier than a man in full control  Believe me, its only while playing cricket that men really know what they are doing. So if you are truly interested in watching good looking men, start watching cricket

 PS  - I really wish there aren't any more reasons that such girls can think of! Heyyy!!! I just got an idea! Why don't you folks tell me why girls SHOULD show more interest in cricket! We could add your suggestions here and hopefully, that'll make the "Cricket - I don't eat cricket!!" girls appreciate this wonderful game! LOL!
