Boeta Dippenaar
A very talented batsman, Boeta Dippenaar has a promising future ahead. He was only the 18th South African to score more than 1000 runs in a domestic season and another product of the prestigious Grey College that has produced international cricketers like Hansie Cronje and Nicky Boje in the past. He did have a bit of a horrid time in Australia recently, but that's all part of the game isn't it!

Herschelle Gibbs
This guy is so talented, you can say that he was born to play. The heir apparent to Jonty Rhodes in the field, he is one hell of a fielder. The only problem with him is that he somehow makes his "off - field" activities gain more attention rather than his batting or fielding. And this gets him into trouble. But I guess now that he has been reprimanded for every possible mistake, he can't do anything wrong in the future!!!

Gary Kirsten
He is the team's *Banker* - one who makes runs without any fuss. He doesn't need any flashy shots, just keeps accumulating the runs and soon you realize that he has scored a century. He is a very good fielder too. The best thing about him is that he possesses this quality of immense concentration which is so vital in Test cricket. His knock of 275 against England in 2000 was a perfect example of his ability. There he was at the crease, saving the match for his country while the English bowlers tried all they could to get him out. You should have heard Alec Stewart appeal from behind the stumps - his overtures turned to crescendo but nothing could deter this Protean. Hats off to Gary!

Neil McKenzie
Another of those exceptionally gifted batsmen, Mckenzie has impressed one and all. A fluent stroke maker and a neat fielder, he is sure to remain on the international scene for a very very long time. And boy!! Is he adored by female fans!!! Beyond doubt - Neil Kckenzie is the latest heartthrob in cricket! (esp. for all the Aussie girls I know who just can't get enough of him!!)

Ashwell Prince
A budding young cricketer, Prince impressed one and all in his very first Test series. He looks confident on the crease, plays with a level head but also has the ability to hit the bowlers. Remember him walloping Warne with such disdain in the last Test match at Durban! It was a delight to the eyes!

Jonty Rhodes
This man is 'livewire'. He is the most agile person you will ever see in your life and this makes him, undoubtedly, the best fielder in the world. He is always the one to pep up the team's spirits even when nothing seems to be happening in the field. And during such a time he will take an exceptional catch or cause a runout and turn the match in SA's favor. A spectator aptly remarked during the series in West Indies (2001) - "The batsman who tries for a run when Jonty is near the ball should be put behind bars".  His popularity knows no bounds. He is loved as much in Mumbai as in Durban.

Jacques Rudolph
Another one in the line of the upcoming SA batsmen, there is not doubt about Jacques Rudolph's ability. He's performed extremely well in the Under 19 tournaments and its only a matter of time before he becomes a permanent face in the SA batting order.

Graeme Smith
Yet again! Another youngster who looks set for a long innings at the International arena - Graeme Smith impressed everyone both during the Tests and ODIs vs Australia. I remember the Aussie fielders were a little too 'friendly' with him, their chatter could be heard through the stump mic, but I rather not mention it here.....let those 'Golden' words remain the copyright of the Ozzies. And the best part was to see Smith answer them by hitting the bowlers to all parts of the field. Way to go!
