Pagan Pride Day (PPD) is coming to Hamilton, and the events leading up to it have begun full swing.
PPD Hamilton is a day for celebrating tolerance and diversity in our community, as well as learning about earth-based spirituality. Pagan Pride Day is an internationally organized project with people hosting festivals as far away as Brazil, Australia and Britain, as well as Canada. Hamilton had a Pagan Pride Day during the first year of its existence, in 1998, but there seems to be no record of it, or even if it was actually held. This year, Pagan Pride Day Hamilton is being held on September 13th, in Gage Park, complete with vendors, workshops and live music.
This event is completely dependent on donations and fundraisers in order for it to come to Hamilton. The most recent one is the Silent Auction, being held Saturday, March 29, at gag the gallery located at 17 John Street North. Doors open at 2:00 pm, with the reception being held at 7:00 pm. You can bid on psychic readings, gift certificates, live herbs, gift baskets and much more. There will also be door prizes. Donators include The Wiccashoppe, Ritchers Herbs, The Rock of Ages, White Flame Candle Company, various Hamilton restaurants, and many more.
Upcoming events and fundraisers also include a Meet and Greet picnic on May 17th in Burlingtons Central Park, a Pagan Craft Fair in July, open mike nights, workshops etc. The Pagan Pride Day organizers are always looking for volunteers to help out with gathering donations, putting up posters, organizing workshops, and helping to organize the actual event itself. Pagan Pride Day Hamilton is also grateful for anyone who wishes to make a donation of cash or items for raffles or prizes.
