A song by Paul McCartney. I'm not a big McCartney fan (always preferred John Lennon), but I adore this song.
This is one of my favourites. Imagine my shock, sitting in a local pub, and the singer starts singing about Sam Lawrence, a man I researched and admired since high school. So, here it is, in all it's glory. Credit goes to Steve Sinnicks.
Listening to 102.1 The Edge, I heard this song several times. It's like Linkin Park and Tori Amos mixed together. The lyrics are awe-inspiring and sad, and the vocals are just beautiful. Credit to Evanescence.
I love the Pearl Jam cover of this Beatles' song for the I Am Sam soundtrack. I love Pearl Jam, period, but the vocals on this song really appeal to my emotions. Written by John Lennon.
Vanessa Carlton is perhaps one of the greatest new female singer/songwriters. She completely awed me with this song, that is so innocently sung, but seems to speak so deeply to me.
Had to add this for Michelle. It's her favourite on the album I got for her for as a gift. She has listened to it eight million times. Another credit to Steve Sinnicks.
Zombie, a song that's been speaking volumes since the first time I heard it. Credit to The Cranberries. Lyrics and music by D. O'Riordan.
A very awesome "love" song. Not your typical slow song, sappy stuff. One of my all time favourite songs, believe it or not (since I'm not really sappy and all that). This one is by Lifehouse.
This song is on Much Music's "Big Shiny Tunes 3", which I was listening to at work. The lyrics suddenly hit me in a way they never did. I'm not a big 3rd Eye Blind fan, but this song is really good.
Have to have Bif Naked on here, of course. I love this song. Very self-affirming.
Angsty, painful and messed up. Ah, yes, the anthem for most people's lives. Credit to Staind.
One of my all time favourite songs, courtesy of Janis Joplin.
Lyrics by Leon Rosselson, song sung by Billy Bragg. Another favourite, about the Diggers in England. Perhaps I'll put up links about that, as well.
By Evanescence. Sad song, revel in it.
Various traditional Irish songs. They needed their own page.
I think this band needs their own page for lyrics. Since I first heard "Push" when I was in high school, the lyrics are so true, and so sad (which is scary that they are true). This will host my favourites from their past four albums. Matchbox Twenty's Homepage is found here.
