Anything Else?I'm a nerd. Sue me. But I DO clean up really well!
Me, looking like a girl! This was at my birthday party on December 4th, 2004. Don't I look hot? *snicker* and doesn't Mr. Sinnicks look evil?
Favourite Song:Currently, "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. I also love Dire Straits' "Romeo and Juliet", and anything by Steve Sinnicks, and also anything by Matchbox Twenty.
Favourite Movie:The Craft has been my fave forever. I also love Glengarry Glen Ross (Kris introduced me to this movie). Zombie movies are a hit as well (Romero and Evil Dead). Mists of Avalon, the LoTR trilogy, and anything with John Cusack in it.
Favourite Books:A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving. This book was absolutely amazing. I had to read it for Grade 11 English, and have read it three times since. It tells the story of Owen, a growth-stunted boy, and his friend, John, as they grow up in a small town, question their faith, and learn to trust and love. My favourite quote from the book is when John said "I will always be a Joseph".
Trinity by Leon Uris. An epic based in Ireland, following Seamus and Conor through their lives growing up in the country known as "a terrible beauty". A heartbreakingly beautiful novel.
God Game by Andrew Greeley. About a man playing a computer game that makes the player God. then the lines between the God Game and reality begins to blur.
Blackie Ryan novels by Andrew Greeley. A series of novels centered around Catholic Priest (then Bishop) and "sleuth", Blackie Ryan. He travels around the world solving mysteries and keeps everyone at his Chicago parish in check with a quiet, unassuming air. The idea might be farfetched, but the writing is so honest and sincere, that the novels are always a joy to read.
The Secret Circle by LJ Smith. A trilogy of novels aimed at teen readers, but the writing is thoroughly enjoyable, as are all of Smith's works. The story revolves around a coven of young witches in the fictional "New Salem". It tackles the occult as well as love and morality issues in one fell swoop.
The Forbidden Game by LJ Smith. Another trilogy. I fell in love with the character, Julian, a Shadowman in love with Jenny, whose grandfather opened a portal to the Shadow World. Julian is just so tragic, but complex and other-worldly, that I couldn't help but be intrigued. I wish Smith would continue this series beyond a trilogy. In true Smith style, she actually researched Norse mythology to make this story more authentic.
Nuala Anne McGrail novels by Andrew Greeley. Nuala is a an Irishwoman, and one of the "dark ones", or a child of fae. She is psychic and uses her abilities to solve mysteries. The characters are fabulous, Nuala is the embodiment of woman--smart, mysterious, honest, loving, a mother, lover and wife, but still the sweet, virginal Irish girl. And "poor Dermot" her husband is dutiful and awed by his wife through all the books. Again, Greeley's writing is so honest that the most far-fetched storylines can be close to your heart.
Any Other Favourites?Um, Sue Ann Levy, the most hard-hitting journalist covering municipal politics in Toronto, Dryden, WB Yeats, Andrew Greeley, Rennaissance Festivals, my faith (Wicca), Shakespeare, and other dorky stuff, I'm sure.
As I said, I'm a geek. I love politics, and history, and religion. I like every genre of music out there (minus crappy dance remixes and wanna-be hardcore rappers).
I'm a writer. Again, as varied as possible. I write essays, commentary, news articles, fiction, and poetry. I pride myself on my "voice" when writing. My teachers in High School and College always commended my ability to actually speak through my writing, and not sound mechanical. (Sorry if I sound egotistical).
I enjoy cooking. I especially love potatoes. Mmmmm--I make good Colcannon and Potato Pie. I might put those recipes up here. I like pretty much ANY food (hence why I ballooned up to 200lbs at one point). I LOVE Sushi and Sashimi, Irish cooking, Italian, and red meat (steaks done blue, thank you. It must moo and run around the plate). The only food I don't like is cooked carrots (they're fine raw) and "meatloaf pizza" (you probably don't want to ask).
Currently, I work at Liquidation World. Oh the glamour! Gotta love the spiffy smocks. I also am still employed by Arby's, but rarely get shifts. Since I quit my prep cook job, I'm hoping to get some more, though.
I also began my CE course for Labour Studies. It's through Mohawk College, McMaster University and the Hamilton District Labour Council. I have my WSIB Level 1, and am saving up for Level 2. I have to say, it was strange being in a classroom again, but I loved it!
Well, that's it about me. Not overly exciting, but what can I say?

Enjoy your stay here, and visit back. I hope to keep updating it.
