the stars illuminate the blackness of the night,
the water ripples in articulate waves,
the wind fans through my hair,
and i look around and see you everywhere.
i feel your heart beating,
i feel your passion burning from deep within,
but tears run like rivers down my cheeks
and i feel i have lost your love forever.
i let the tears come and fall where they may,
and i bring back the bittersweet memories.
even though it seemed sometimes that you didn't care,
but just that you were here was enough to assure me.
so here i am, staring into the sky,
looking at the stars that remind me of your eyes.
i feel a presence so strong that it binds,
binds with my soul to somehow freeze time.
i hear gentle rolls of thunder,
and rain softly hits my face,
i turn to walk away and escape the pain,
when before me is your face.
all i must do is look into your eyes,
i know you've come back to ease the hurt fate inflicted.
you start to confess the undying love,
but i put my finger to your lips to silence
the words i always needed to hear.
we stare, recovering lost time,
i read your soul and you read mine.
finally, deciding i can trust again,
i throw myself into your arms.
i'm crying out of control,
and the rain is beating down.
still, we stand and hold each other,
knowing that our love is forever sound.
