The dream, the goal, the hope
By: Pete
My dream has always been to work in the field of music, be it a radio disc jockey, a vocalist for a band, whatever. I mean, if I had the chance, I'd host Headbanger's Ball on MTV2 for free (yes I would, fuck the money, as long as I got to play what I wanted.) I mean, if you don't dream big, then what's the point, right? But in the field, I wouldn't want to particularly work with the artists as much, although I do enjoy interviewing, but more or less to try and spotlight bands I think that people can connect with. These bands obviously not being your atypical mainstream artists who have already accomplished a lot, but the band that's trying to breakthrough the ceiling to the top floor. Running a website based solely on that has been a very large highlight of my past year. I've enjoyed seeing this site rise in page views, it's usage in other facets of the online community, especially with regards to the album reviews I have done, as well as the highlight of the website itself, being the song of the week page, which tries to do in essence what I wish to do in a bigger spotlight than just the internet and that is bringing bands who many may have not known about until they read that entry I post about the song and follow the link to stream the song freely, giving the band the exposure they deserve. It's a hard prospect in any sense to get in to the scene of music, in any aspect. Be it television, radio, working for a label (which thankfully I had a chance to partake in with Elementree Records as an online A&R Scout for them back in 2002,) being in a band, or any other venture in the business I may have missed. I feel that there is a certain need for someone to take the reigns of a show, a show like a Headbanger's Ball or a Uranium (which would need to be unburied), or create another show much in the same vein. Giving a chance to artists to gain exposure on a large scale. I would love to one day be a host of something like that, something if it were to happen, to be called Hollow Dream TV. Because I love the name, as it is the name of this website as well. It would focus on anything from hard rock to death metal, art rock to industrial, you name it, if I like it, it'll be there. I love the music industry, because I love music. It has gotten me through the worst of times and kept me going at times when I wanted to quit, music is my life and that is why I run this website with such enthusiasm, with such pride. When I got to do my first interview, I was so stoked, because it was one of my favorite bands of all-time, being STEMM, a virtual unknown in a world where the type of music they play is blowing up on a grand stage. To have that honor is something I will always cherish.
Other Goals:
Currently, I am contemplating how I could possibly go about making an online radio station of sorts. I've got enough music to get it off the ground and once online, I'll be able to add to my collection some more.
Also, I am looking for someone that is a bit more knowledgeable at html or Dreamwever than I am so I can add more features to this website, such as drop down buttons with more links etc.
Headbanger's Ball Reviews:
Starting this Saturday, I will begin reviewing the airings of MTV2's Headbanger's Ball show as well. To read them, you can access them through the archives section of the website.
The November Update:
Everything on the webpage has been archived. Still no net. At the end of the year I will unleash a Best and Worst of 2007 page, to commemorate all that was in music in 07, or atleast a sliver of it. I've decided to also do away with the song of the week and replace it with the Top 3. I've added another poem I wrote, as well as an entry on Nu-metal and the bias labeling of just about anything mainstream. Also, I finished a review on Miseration's album Their Demons - Your Angels as well as the new Demon Hunter, Soilwork and Arch Enemy albums. I am looking forward to getting a real web address for this site, as well as updating the buttons you see above to only have 4 or so, with a drop down screen for them (if anyone knows how to accomplish this before I have figured it out, please contact me.) Also as you can tell by the above, I am gearing up to provide music news as well, but not in the form of blabbermouth.net, but more in an all in one. Plus the band and album of the month will be forthcoming once I get back up and running which should be sometime later this month or mid next.
Anyways, until next time, keep it metal \m/ xXx \m/
