Formed in the Summer of 2004, drummer Ryan Lang and rhythm guitarist Scott Ray decided to jam one day. When it was determined they had a powerful sound, they grabbed bassist Justin Valentine and threw him into the mix. Later down the road, Shatterproof decided a lead guitarist was needed. Lang suggessted a friend of his -- Jake Loehr. When Loehr came for a tryout, Lang, Ray, and Valentine were overwhelmed by the young guitarist's ability to solo. It was decided that Loehr would become the newest member of Shatterproof. After searching three months for a permanent vocalist, the band stumbled upon Shane Heim. The band continued to progress until the Summer of 2005 when Valentine, Heim, and Shatterproof parted ways due to personal differences. Shatterproof quickly rebounded with vocalist Ryan Crawford. Crawford had the energy, talent, and personality that Shatterproof was looking for and now is a part of it. Shortly after Crawford entered the band, Cody Mason filled the spot once held by Valentine for a bassist.
