Ramtanu Lahiri was born in 1813 AD in Baruihuda,a small village near Krishnanagar.His father was Ramkrishna Lahiri.He received his school education in Krishnanagar.Lahiri Bari ie his residence at Krishnanagar is still there but has changed hands. Ramtanu Lahiri was a renowned social reformer,writer & educator.He retired at fifty two from his teaching career, spanning thirty two years, that included teaching in Krishnanagar Government College.He died on 13 th August 1898 in Kolkata.
