Daddy and the Moon Daddy and the Moon

lunaman "Daddy, where's the moon?" he said one night.
"I went out on the porch, and couldn't see it right."
"Don't you worry, boy. We'll find it, yes siree!"
So daddy took a little hand, then went outside to see.
They layed themselves down, upon the picnic table
And waited for a cloud to move, so they would be able.

Daddy pointed up, and showed him a star
The boy had to ask, "How many, Dad? how far?"
"Far enough, far enough, but not to far to reach.
Diamonds in that sky, son like sands on the beach."
"Daddy, where's it at? and will it be here soon?
I'm tired of waitin' now. Just wanna see the moon!"

"Just hold yer hosses there, ya gotta wait some more,
Keep in mind there are things, a' worth the waitin' for.
There's lots of things to learn, and all in good time.
You'll see what you want, you'll seek and you'll find."
By and by the cloud moved, the boy yelled, "You're right!"
He clapped his hands and cheered, boyish glee filled the night.

The moon was shining down, just pretty as you please,
It's brilliance shimmered so, it glimmered off the trees
The boy reached right over, and patted Daddy's hand,
The message, 'thank you, dad, for the lesson so unplanned',
Glad for Daddy's knowledge, for Jupiter and Mars.
He'll always love the moon, but will reach for the stars.
