We ride an ancient starship
Built by fire and cool water
Where molten rock was met
With cool water bringing steam,
Land forged where tiny life
Might grow, evolve and become.
We ride an ancient starship,
Set on it's course by a voice
"Here let there be light!"
And there was, yes there was,
And it was good, so good.
Not perfect, but in time!
We ride this ancient starship
Through time and space
While we learn and gain
And come to know
That it is a but a field trip
To study the laws of God
We ride an ancient starship
Pushing through aeons,
Hurling passed collisions
Of starry gas and unknown depth
We've many things to learn
We varied voyagers of Earth
We ride an ancient starship
So far to go have we
Till we see the clash of light,
The dawning of the new
Where blackness meets the bright
We ride an ancient starship,
And how glorious that view
That view of the beginning,
The middle and the end
Symbolized by daylight's start
We ride an ancient starship
And like a treadmill runner
Questing for the elusive
As the world spins underfoot
With each step toward the light
The goal so within view
We ride an ancient starship,
And long for journey's end
But never will we finish
Nor will we even rest,
Till we learn one simple rule,
The beginning is the end
