August Night

The colors of night are harder to see
Her beauty is veiled with cloth so dark
Not all can view, it evades, in August
She carefully chooses those mindful few
To reveal her colors of black, gray, blue

They must look deep, let eye adjust
Close their eyes to garish display
She's easy, that blistering dog day!
August sun worship's for shallow mind
If they seek only light, that's all they find

Sun goes down, and moon wins right
To casts sparkling glimmer to our night
So lady dark may arrive, demure splendor
Because she is pure, sweet and true
She can restore the life force in you
