In a regular singing contest, Brooke White's performance last night is enough to eliminate her already. When she stopped because she forgot the word is typically grounds to have her voted off and in a singing contest with a "gong", she would have been gonged out! She said that it was the first time she made that mistake. She forgot that she did the same when she was playing the piano; when she made a mistake and she had to start from the very beginning of her song. She's right though that she's the first person in Idol who have done such mistakes.
She must be one of the favorites of AI powers that be because she's still there even with all the blunders she made. Brooke has been in the bottom 3 and got one of the lowest votes, but miracle of miracles, she's still there when it's so obvious that she has not improved since the time she was wearing that yellow dress one night in the show. At least, Kristy Lee Cook did not forget her words. Kristy is not my favorite at all but she never messed up with her songs so obvious like Brooke. I don't have anything against Brooke either. I think she's the sweetest girl, but this is a singing competition supposedly! Paula knew it, too, that Brooke made a big booboo for not just continuing with her song. I think Brooke thought she was still in rehearsal!

According to DialIdol, Brooke is second to the lowest vote getter which is Carly. The ones that could be voted off are: David Archuleta, Syesha Mercado, Jason Castro, Brooke White and Carly Smithson. With what's been happening on the result nights for the past two weeks, most likely Carly will still be there. Since Brooke made mistakes and she is still there, it's Jason Castro who might get the boot, which is unfair, that's for sure. His song choice was not the best, but he is much better than Brooke, that's a fact. Syesha did well, so she has another week and David A. will not be the one leaving tonight. I really hope tonight is Brooke's last night on the show and not someone who still deserves to be there.
FOOTNOTES ON RESULT NIGHT:
Well, this time, I guess DialIdol survey ruled... Idol presented it as if Syesha got the second lowest votes, but she really did get more votes. Based on DialIdol and the rest of America, Brooke should be at the bottom 2 with Carly who got the lowest votes. Carly has never been one of my favorites, but she really deserved to be there maybe until the final four show. In a real singing contest where it is really based on the best singing ability, the final four of this season should really be: David Cook, David Archuleta, Michael Johns and Carly Smithson. The reality of it is that Idol is a show where viewers vote, and; adding to the injury, we also have the Vote for the Worst website and who has people behind it whose goal is to destroy Idol and what it represents. But sadly this website proved also without a shadow of any doubt that viewers votes cannot be relied on to pick the best and the deserving. Having said that, the kinds of Brooke White will then flourish on the future seasons. Hopefully, they won't point at her as their role model and an excuse for "start overs" when they too forget the lyrics. It would be an AI contestants full of start overs in the second or third stanza of a song. Since Brooke is the Queen of it now and have gotten away with it twice without being eliminated, her copycats in the future will also be favored to stay and would get lots of votes from Vote for the Worst website in the future. The sad part of it for Brooke is she will be forever known for it and not her singing ability. It would be pure luck if ever she got to record a CD album and it did not flop. Who would want to buy a singer's CD with that start over stigma attached to her? I won't. In the first place, she's not even one of the strongest singers in this season. She's a sweet person, but she really is getting on peoples' nerves with her antics of talking back to the judges and escaped the consequences; and her crying moments that has gotten old and could easily be mistaken as a ploy to get sympathy votes.
After singing her swan song, I noticed that Carly said that she did not miss a lyric. Close to the end of the show, when we all knew she got the ax, Carly's actions showed she tried to not turn to Brooke, but when she had to, there was a hesitating reaction from her for some seconds. I don't blame Carly if she felt she was cheated, I would, too. Here she was able to cover up and did a good job if she missed a lyric or two, which was not even noticeable.. I did not even know she did until the judges pointed it out. That's how a good singer should be. For that, I admired Carly. She was cheated for a place on the Top Four. I guess now she knows how Michael Johns felt being kicked out untimely on such a show like American Idol. Hopefully Carly and Michael find success after the show and when the tour is done and over with for them in season 7. There are very few buyers of CDs performed by very good singers. The major buyers of CDs are those that could make them dance and sing with the songs that are mostly upbeat and they could relate to the songs of the times, the songs of today's generation. The adult generations are wise and smart in selecting their music, while the young ones would pick just about anything that give them pleasure; and if they are tired of them, they'd go to the next new singer and her/his new CD album. The generations of today get easily bored. Have you seen their collections of CDs that become dust collectors eventually? They need to be taught how to recycle.
