The Corrs, a group composed of a brother and three sisters, were brought up in Louth County, Dundalk, Ireland. The place is located mid-way between Belfast and Dublin, the capital. Their parents are Gerry and Jean both musicians, mother on vocals and father on the keyboards. The band started by auditioning, in 1990,
for roles in the Alan Parker film The Commitments. Youngest sister Andrea got the part as the central character's little sister while the others, namely Jim, Sharon, and Caroline got cameo parts. The film's musical director, John Hughes, became their manager.
Andrea appeared again in another Parker film, Evita along with Madonna, Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Pryce. She played the mistress of Juan Peron. She even provided the singing voice of Kaley in The Magic Sword (Quest for Camelot). The Corrs officially started in 1991 by singing at their parents' pub and three
years later were signed by Atlantic records and the rest as they say is history. Their first album, Forgiven, Not Forgotten, released in 1995, was followed by Talk On Corners (1997), The Corrs Unplugged (MTV Unplugged Series, 1999), and In Blue (2000).
They released their fourth studio album Borrowed Heaven in 2004. It includes Time Enough For Tears which is also included in the critically acclaimed film In America's soundtrack. The song was written by Gavin Friday, Maurice Seezer and U2's Bono.
In September 2005, a year after Borrowed Heaven, they released an collection of Irish songs called Home. The songs, they said, was from their mother Jean's, who passed away in November 1999, songbook.
It was also dedicated to their late mother and to their father Gerry.
