PACHYSANDRA TERMINALIS - height 8", lovely evergreen ground cover for shade, does flower but they are not very significant

PENSTEMON DIGITALIS - these are beautiful plants with trumpet like flowers on thin stems attractive to hummingbirds, for some reason I was unable to grow these as perennials

PEONY - height 3', very easy to grow plants that look much like a small shrub, large flowers are attractive to ants, available in many colors, blooms for about a week towards the end of May or early June, full sun

PHYSOSTEGIA VIRGINIANA 'VIVID' - (false dragonhead or obedient plant) - height 15-24", part shade or sun, long spikes of rose-pink flowers in August-September, these can spread fast in rich soil

PLATYCODON GRANDIFLORUS (balloon flower) - height 18", full sun, flower buds are shaped liked balloons and open into star-shaped flowers, available in pink, blue or white, blooms for a few weeks in mid-summer, very unique plant

RUDBECKIA FULGIDA 'GOLDSTURM' (yellow coneflower) - height 24-30", full sun, yellow daisy flower with brown center, blooms in July and part of August

SEDUM SPECTABILE 'AUTUMN JOY' (stonecrop) - height 2', succulent foliage with flat topped flowerheads that start to bloom in late August and into September, they start out pink then change to red and later to brown, attractive to butterflies and bees, also look pretty covered in snow

STOKESIA LAEVIS (Stoke's aster) - height 1', resembles a cornfloer, available in lavender-blue or white, full sun, flowers in July, need to watch as they will wilt during dry spells

VERONICA SPICATA (speedwell) - height 12-18", these are available in many sizes and colors, the plants have wands of flower spikes and are attractive to bees, need a good grouping for impact, some of the taller plants may sprawl
