| The Dargaville Ford Western sharks traveled to Hukerenui last Saturday and were well beaten by a good Mid-Northern team 48-5 in Northland wide premier rugby. | ||||
| The Sharks with a somewhat rejigged line up due to a speight of injuries at the moment, competed reasonably well in most set phases and held a fair share of territory the first half, but their rather youthful backs found the mid Northern backline, in which the very experienced Milton and Clint Going cut some capers, hard to handle, and the home team ran in a cluster of mostly long range tries to go out to a big 36-0 half time lead. | ||||
| With the score threatening to blowout, the Sharks dug deep the second spell, restricted mid- northern to just two more try?s, while getting one touch down themselves by winger Steve Tane. Indeed, in the last fifteen minutes the Sharks had the home team mostly bailed up near their goal line and conceding a string of penalties for using ?illegal? spoiling tactics while desperately trying to stem the surging drives by the Sharks pack. | ||||
