?Sharks Just Beaten?
The Dargaville Ford Western Sharks Beaurepaires Premier team was just squeezed out 29-27 by Mid Northern in Northland wide Club rugby on Saturday 30th April. Plyed at R.D.1 Park Dargaville, a sizeable crowd of supporters enjoyed a close contest, with the Sharks holding the upper hand in the first half leading 17-5 at he break, and Mid Northern, with the sun and wind advantage reversing the role in the second half to claw their way back and sneak victory.
Sharks front rowers Rusty Williamson, Matt Breed and Paul Horner all had useful outings, with Solomon Palu, who featured in some powerful bursts and Regan Walters good value too.� Lock Aaron Llambly ruled the lineouts, with his general play first class as well.� Centre Phil Langdon shone once again deserving his brace of tries, second five Scott McDermott had a strong match and halfback Haydn Andrewes featured some quality passing. Roger Rowse at full back, once he had gauged the wind with a couple of ?sighters?, gave a top goal kicking exhibition with a 5 penalty and 1 converion haul, including a couple from near 50 metres.
The Morfett Autos Western Sharks reserve team gave a good account of themselves, although going down 24-14 to a strong Mid Nothern team in a hard fought curtain raiser. The Sharks travel to Awanui next Sat 7th May
