| Sharks bite Otamatea | ||||||
| The Dargaville Ford Western sharks traveled to Kaiwaka last Saturday and had their Beaurepaires premier side put the bite on Otamatea, winning 21-8 in northland wide rugby. A rock hard dusty pitch and a swirling south westerly wind made ball control difficult for both teams, but the Sharks, ahead 13-8 at the break, had just a bit too much pace in the backline for a determined home side, and went on to take victory. | ||||||
| Try scorers Jeremy Hutchinson & Phil Langdon with two were in hot form in the shark?s rearguard, with Langdon unlucky not to have a third try when after another clean break he was adjudged by the Referee to have knocked the ball on slightly in the act of touching it down. | ||||||
| Hayden Hutchinson at first five eights is also starting to show the form he is capable of. Flanker Dave Pulman had a strong match with Craig Williamson, Regan Walters and Aaron Lambly having plenty of good moments in the sharks pack as well. Otamatea played with all their traditional never say die style, with Frazer Wright the standout. | ||||||
| The Morfett Autos Western sharks reserve team, were beaten 20-5 by Otmatea in the early game Matthew McCully, Tony Stokes and Glen Jenyns, showed out in the Sharks backline, with Bas Bryan and Youngster Matthew Webster to the fore in the pack, but the home team fifteen had just a tad to much grunt on the Day. | ||||||
