| The Dargaville Ford Western Sharks gave Marist, the 2004 champions, a real hurry up when the Beaurepaires Premier side, in a vastly improved performance over last week, went down 33-17 at Kensington Park. | |||||||
| Both teams scored three tries and it was left to the boot of Marist first five Josh Levi, who kicked four penalties, and three conversions to make the difference. Down 21-12 at halftime the Sharks lifted their performance even more in the second spell and had the much vaunted Marist side under increasing pressure, just missing two further tries, by a whisker. | |||||||
| All players deserve mention, but the moving of Regan Walters to lock and Andrew Simpson to Number eight by Coach Eddie Matthews worked extra well, Simpson giving a standout performance and Walters thriving at lock. Dave Pulman, Craig Williamson had top outings also, While Matt Breed played his best match of the season. | |||||||
| Phil Langdon and Jereomy Hutchinson starred in the Backs, with Scott McDermott and powerful winger Dave Fili top value as well. Youngster Matthew McCully drafted in to fullback at late notice, came through a torrid match with credit. | |||||||
