| Sharks blow chances | ||||||||
| The Dargaville Ford Western Sharks came away with a win & a loss, when they took on Kamo at R.D.1 Park Dargaville last Saturday in the first round of Northland wide super ten senior Rugby. | ||||||||
| Played in the hot conditions, on a parched grass surface, the Beaurepaires premiers will rue missing what looked like a certain late match try, when their fullback Phil Langdon carved up the Kamo team only to have his pass to in the clear winger Jeremy Hutchinson intercepted by a desperate lucky Kamo defender further, both Aaron Lambly and Roger Rowse missed very kickable last minute penalties which could have sealed a sharks victory, Kamo taking a 11-9 win in this cliffhanger game. | ||||||||
| The Kamo pack gained the upper hand in the first half, and with a try and a penalty took their side out to a deserved 8-3 lead at the break. The roles were reversed in the second half when the Sharks pack gradually gained a slight ascendancy and with some ball to play with, the home backs looked very sharp when they spread the ball wide. Lambly with two and Rowse with one, kicked penalties if the sharks points. | ||||||||
| The Morfett Autos reserve team looked more then handy, with putting away Kamo 17-7 in the early match. The home team having a bit too much size and strength for a very youthful looking Kamo team. | ||||||||
| The sharks travel to Waipu for the second round matches next week. | ||||||||
