| A soft try given away just before halftime, when two Sharks players waited for each other to claim the ball, only to see the ball gathered by a Kamo player who strolled over for a try, cost the Beaurepaires Premier side a victory they should have had when the Dargaville Ford Western sharks hosted Kamo at R.D.1 Park last Saturday. | |||||||||
| A Seventeen to four penalty count, with Kamo slotting three of these, whistled up by Referee Innes Anderson, also paid a heavy toll on the Sharks. The Western Sharks did however have many good periods in the match, putting on three excellent tries to best the two posted by the visitors, but need to keep up the tempo they achieved at these times for the whole eighty minutes in future games. | |||||||||
| In the sharks pack, hooker Craig Williamson and loosie Solomone Palu led by example with strong games, while tall Lock Peter Bond excelled in the lineouts and exhibited good pace around the field. | |||||||||
| Halfback Ryan Boyd came through a torrid outing well and looks a useful prospect if he can sharpen his pace a tad. Scott McDermott, in at first five , was sound enough, and put in some telling kicks, while strong Mid-fielders Tama Herman and Jeremy Hutchinson looked the goods but just didn't receive enough ball on attack. | The Morfett Autos Western Sharks premier reserve team pleased their coach Laurie Davies with a well deserved four try bonus point 26-21 victory over Kamo in the early match. The Sharks were in control for most of the match, only conceding the lead near halftime. The reserves try scorers were: second five Sai Hufanga 2, winger Sitane Vea, and replacement no 8 Stone Maake. Empire Liquor center Players of the day were Richard Anderson and Siope Levaka. | |||||||||
