This tutorial is written for PSP7 and AS and assumes you have
a good working knowledge of the PSP tools.

Any resemblence to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.


Supplies Needed

Paint Shop Pro & Animation Shop

The ballet dancer tube was created by the very talented Pat at
Rainbow Row Graphics and is used here with her very kind permission.
Thank you Pat! Please provide a link back to Pat's site when using her tubes.


1. Open the psp file in your workspace.
You'll see that it consists of 9 balletdancer layers and 1 bckg layer.
Ballerina 1 and White Bckg layers are the only visible layers.
Click on your White Bckg layer to make it active.

2. Set your foreground colour to black and your background to null.
Click on your preset shapes tool. (A very good friend of mine is now groaning...lol.)
Preset shapes settings to this configuration :

3. Draw an ellipse something similar to this :

4. Set your foreground colour to #F5A6CF and your background to #FFDDFF.
Click on your text tool and move the pointer over the top of the ellipse
until a ' ) ' appears at the side of the letter A.
Add your text using these settings:

5. Selections > Promote To Layer.
Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel using these settings :

6. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow using these settings :

7. Click on your vector layer to make it active (The ellipse).
Layers > Delete.

8. Turn the visibility off on Ballerina 1 layer.
Click on White Bckg layer to make it active.
Layers > Merge > Merge Visible.
Re-name this layer Bckg.

9. Layers > Duplicate 8 times giving you a total of 9 bckg layers.
Re-name them bckg 1 to 9.
Turn the visibility off on all of these bckg layers.

10. Click on Ballerina 1 layer to make it active.
Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow using the same settings.
Repeat the drop shadow on each of the ballerina layers.
Turn the visibility off on all the ballerina layers.

11. Click on Ballerina 1 and then on bckg 1 layers
to make them both visible and tha bckg active.
Layers > Merge > Merge Visible.
Turn the visibility off on this merged layer.

12. Repeat step 11 with each set of layers.
Merge Ballerina 2 with Bckg 2, Ballerina 3 with Bckg 3 and so on.

13. Turn the visibility on all layers back on.
Save in PSP format.

14. Open your saved PSP file in Animation Shop.
Edit > Select All.
Animation > Frame Properties of 30.

15. Crop your animation and re-size to your own taste.
Run the animation and save as a GIF and you're done.
