To comply with Belgian Safety Regulations on the road, some of our trips include the services of 2 drivers depending on distance and lenght of the trip. This is always very carefully worked out in consultation with our coach company to optimise the safety of our passengers. Inevitably this impacts on the cost of the trip.
How do we cross over to the UK?
In order to maximise the time spend at UK destinations, channel crossings with the SHAPE Travel Group are by Eurotunnel unless otherwise stated.
Do you pass the hat round for tips at the end of each trip?
Driver(s)' tips are always included in the cost of the trip. If you feel you would like to show further appreciation please fell free to do so directly with the driver.
Can we smoke on the coach?
All SHAPE Travel Group trips are non smoking. However, according to Belgian Law, the driver is allowed to smoke. Every effort is made to minimise any discomfort to the passengers.
Can I get a refund if I cancel my reservation?
Should you have to cancel a reservation, the latest cancellation date for a full refund is clearly printed on each trip handout given with the receipt at the time of booking.
If the cancellation date has expired, we will do our best to sell your place to someone on the waiting list - if there is one. If that is the case 5 Euros will be deducted from your refund.
Can I sell my ticket myself?
If you sell your place to a friend, it is important to advise the Travel Group of the name change. We will need the person's last names, first name, home telephone number and duty extension (if applicable). Passport and visa regulations apply.
Can visiting friends and family members come on the trips too?
Visiting family member and friends are welcome on SHAPE Travel Group trips. They can even travel unaccompanied provided they are sponsored by a SHAPE I.D. card holder who will act as a sponsor and whose contact details have to be given to the SHAPE Travel Group at the time of reservation.
Can I bring a baby buggy/stroller?
Baby buggies can be stored in the boot of the coach. The same applies for wheelchairs.
Do I have to pay for a baby?
Under new Belgian law children under 2 years must have their own seat. Parents are asked to give every child's age at the time of booking and are required to purchase a seat for all children.
If I forget something on the coach how can I get it back?
The escorts always ask passengers to make sure they have all their belongings with them at the end of every trip. If you have left something behind on the coach and IF it is found when the coach is checked, the item(s) will be taken to our reservations desk. Please collect as soon as possible.
Can I come on my own if I don't know anyone to travel with?
Solo travellers are always welcome. The trips are a good opportunity for making new friends.
Who are TRAVEL GROUP members?
.... and yes, as a SHAPE Group 2 activity all SHAPE Travel Group committee members who you meet at the reservations desk, escorting trips, etc ... are VOLUNTEERS. We thoroughly enjoy organising trips to interesting places and travelling with the SHAPE/NATO community
