| one of the perks of JET are all these free conferences we have to go to. in may, we had one down in kobe, and on the way back, a bunch of us decided to take in the beauty of kyoto. it was morgan's first time, and he loved it. the weather was great, not too hot, and we could stay at a friend of nick's house. we temple hopped, and ate great food, i suppose this is what people mean by getting CULTURE. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| visiting kiyomizu-dera (my favorite temple in kyoto) we were lucky enough to see 3 maiko (apprentice geisha) having their pictures taken. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| morgan and i in front of kinkaku-ji (the golden pavillion). one of the most famous sights in kyoto. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| morgan and nishimura-san after eating the feast his wife had prepared. it was really nice of them to open their house to us, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| l-r: angie, molly, morgan and nick on the grounds of ryoan-ji, a really old zen rock garden. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| another picture on the grounds of ryoan-ji. we took loads of pictures of the other temples we saw (especially the grounds of ginkaku-ji) but none of the really turned out well enough to post. hope these will do. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
