this year, halloween came to shiojiri AND ikeda in grand style. despite endless cold rain, the shiojiri party was a huge success, attracting thousands of people. rumor has it, it's the biggest halloween party in japan. this year, i escaped the palm reading booth, to be boss lady of the haunted house. while the house was geared for little kids, therefore not TOO scary, we did make some children cry. so, a successful venture. =) halloween in ikeda was a much smaller event, but a great time. had a pumpkin design contest at school, then a trick or treat party complete with gross feely corner. morgan came to help out, and we then repeated it at his elementary school class. i tell you, this is internationalization at it's finest! BOOOOO!
quite a colorful crew outside halloween headquarters. clare (in the back row) was mercury, her wings were RAD, i was medusa, and i'm not sure what nick (covered in blue) was supposed to be. we suggested smurf, and he got angry.
the haunted house crew, plus fumie and her friend azusa (in the wigs). andrew was the mummy, john the skeleton in the graveyard, i was the medusa-witch (we were short handed) and morgan was in charge of scaring the crap out of people as they came out of the tunnel. andrea was the autumn queen- she helped guide the younger kids through...
lori as sally from 'the nightmare before christmas', me, and renee as silverella, the futuristic space babe. (that's what it said on the package...)
ummm... i told andrew to look threatening in this picture... please admire betsy's work on the tomb. she's amazing.
morgan's shogakku class. they loved it. we brought face paint so they could have some kind of costume. they helped us decorate the room, and were really into the treak or treat bit. some even taught it to their mothers!
the winning design team: yuka, maiko, and rika. maiko was a pumpkin carving natural!
ayano and erika try on the 'gaijin wigs' that's what they're called. seirously.
