Day Two:  The Proposal...
So after breakfast on Saturday, Mark says, "Let's take a walk on the beach."  I'll be honest, I had a feeling something was up, as it's usually me bugging him to take walks on the beach.  We bundled up (ahh... the Oregon Coast) and headed out.  After walking for about 15 minutes, Mark spots this rock, and suggests we go look for tide pools.
As I am looking at sea anenomes, Mark reaches into his pocket and produces a copy of the first e-mail I ever sent him.  He asked me to read it outloud, then got down on his knee, starts fumbling in his pocket and...
...WHOOSH!  up and over the rock comes a big wave, totally soaking our feet and shins.  We both laughed, which was nice.
When the water receeded, Mark got back on his knee, finished his beautiful speech, then produced the most incredible ring I've ever seen.  He asked me to marry him, and obviously, I said yes.  At that point, we could see another wave coming, so we jumped off the rock and ran for drier ground.
So here we are savoring the moment, sans socks and shoes.  The ring was a little big, as Mark picked it out himself, and had no way of knowing my ring size.
This is me showing off the ring oh-so-subtly.
And here are some close-ups for those of you who are interested.  Did I mention he had it designed at a local jewlery maker?  And for those of you who are socially conscious, the diamonds are Canadian, not African.  If you hold it up to your ear, you can hear a faint refrain of 'Eh?'  Just like a conch shell. :)
So that's it!  Click here to return to the main engagement page.
