stop 1:  los angeles
june 10-16th, 2000
first up on our american adventure was los angeles.  we arrived (suprisingly non-jet lagged) on the 10th.  my mom was also arriving that day, so we spent most of the day at the airport.  throughout the week we did lots of shopping (time to restock on things we can't buy in japan, like shoes) and had time to take in the joys my grandfather's cooking.  We even made it to universal studios and the getty museum.  our last night, we got to see loads of family members, as we celebrated my cousin's graduation from UCSD.
morgan and i take the tourist shot in front of the universal globe.
morgan takes it to the hulk.
we got to hang out with some friends from whitman who now live in the city of angels, l-r: deegan, me, aaron.  we even got to see deegan's play, a version of American Buffalo (by david mamet).  it was awesome.  always nice to see good theater.
christine and i at her party.  life is hard for christine.  now that she's graduated, she's living in italy, working at a resort.  in september she'll start teaching english in milan.  too bad...=)
from r-l:  my grandmother, and her friends mrs. reinhart and mrs. toliver.  (i'm sure i spelled those wrong.)  3 of the coolest women i know.
christine and my cousin matthew.  matt also has it rough, studying photography as a cover for surfing every day.
l-r:  my aunt paula, christine, my grandfather.  behind: my uncle mike.  right before christine opened her stash of goodies.
on to denver!
