On a hill overlooking the city sits Villa Borghese, the former compound of Cardinal Scipione Borghese, who amassed a spectacular personal collection of sculptures and paintings by, I'm sure, entirely scrupulous means in the 17th century. The collection is housed in the Galleria, and contains some truly amazing Bernini sculptures. The grounds are now a public park, and are a perfect place to get away from the city, if only for a little while.

I think the best thing about being very rich and well connected would be being able to wake up in the morning and say, "I think I'd like a lake with a Greek pavillion and some swans on the south end of the property" and then it happens.
The spectacular view from the Villa over the Piazza del Popolo. Some cardinals sure know how to live.
