we flew into bangkok on sunday march 19th, greeted with the incongruous site of people playing golf between the landing strips. we found our way into town, and quickly got a room at a guest house near the (in)famous khao san road. after being in rural japan for so long, it was jarring to see so many white folks- mostly 20 something travellers like ourselves. we had a great meal, including pineapple shakes, for all of $2.00. again- quite a change after the $3 apples in japan. we were pretty knackered after our trip, so we settled in at the house lobby to watch 'fight club'. (they show movies at all the guest houses.) the next morning, we were up early to start sight seeing. our first stop... |
