Navy, World War II
    Oliver Paul Nunley, my father, was in the Navy during World War II .  He was on an anmunitions ship called the Barnard Victory and was sent to the Phillipines.  He was in about  a year when he was given an early out due to his brother, James Preston Nunley, being killed on the ship the USS Indianapolis that was sunk in the Pacific by a Jap submarine.  So Paul was given a Honorable Discharge and sent home.
     He was born in Towncreek, Alabama November the third, 1926, to Oliver Perry Nunley and Nora Bell Vaughn Nunley.   They moved to Iuka, Ms when he was under two years old.  His brothers and sisters were James Preston, Gladys Mae, Dimple Jewell, and Forrest Lunsford (Bud).  
     Oliver Paul married in 1948 to Dorothy Wiona Wilemon from Holcut, Tishomingo Co., Ms.  They moved to Memphis, Tn not long after that.  They had three children, Cathye Jean, Teresa Lynn,  and Allison Renate.   His wife died January 3, 1990 of a blood clot and he remarried.  He now lives in Tishomingo Co. Iuka, Ms.  .
