SHANNON'SWORDS TO LIVE BY

THE GIFT OF VISION

This type can grasp the overall situation easily and see
all the facets of a project. This helps him to be a good organizer. He can
envision a plan and present it effectively, helping people to see their role
in relation to others. The Visionary has a good sense of symmetry and balance,
and he realizes how important it is to never impose on people. This person
carries an organized mental picture of things in his mind's eye, which gives
him the tools to guide others effectively. He finds a challenge in achieving
harmony and peace within himself and in his surroundings. This type is aware
of subtle details in personality and is able to work with others easily.
He can see what it is like to be in another man's shoes, but can still remain
emotionally detached. The Visionary has the ability to "feel with" other
people which establishes rapport and good communication. He is sensitive
to his surroundings and creates for himself an attractive and pleasant
environment. This person is neat in appearance. He is usually artistic and
appreciates the beauty and balance of nature. In his friendships with others,
outward manifestations of affection are important. When a Visionary is out
of balance, however, he will have many difficulties. There will be a drive
to have everything perfect. He quickly sees an overall picture but insists
that everyone else see it his way. He seldom misses spotting errors in other
people's work or flaws in their ideas, and he thinks it is his duty to correct
them. The unbalanced Visionary will disorganize situations by bringing up
many complicated details to convince others that his way is best. When people
do not allow him to dominate, he becomes discouraged, disillusioned, and
gives up. He may even resort to developing a headache to gain sympathy. He
uses his thoughts for the purpose of control and manipulation. He takes a
tragic view of life because things never seem to meet his expectations of
perfection. He lives a fairy tale life in his own world of make-believe.
A Visionary with very little self-awareness worries a lot about little things
and is easily upset. He often becomes emotionally involved with other people's
problems. This concern is motivated by his desire to control and force others
to depend on him for help or advice. He retains memories of negative emotional
experiences and frequently brings them to mind. This person does not handle
pressure well and complains that he is over-sensitive and easily hurt. He
exaggerates his emotional needs and withdraws into himself, frequently becoming
tired or confused. He is a poor listener and usually seems not to hear or
understand what others try to explain to him. Once the Visionary can learn
more about himself, however, he can overcome these difficulties. It is a
matter of learning to understand himself and his tendencies. The Visionary
is known as clairvoyant or clear-seeing. Everything he sees is then translated
into thought and feeling, and he usually remembers what he sees. Some Visionaries
even have a "photographic mind" and are able to recall names, dates, places,
or events very easily once they have seen them. You might say they think
in pictures.
