Enrolled in Role Model (CMU) for 9 years and counting
The Role Models Program helps children who live in the Hill
District recognize and deal with real-life problems that they
confront every day. Children see the unemployment of African
American men and women who stand on Centre Avenue from early
morning to late evening. They know crack addicts, struggling
teenage mothers, people who deal drugs, gang members and victims
of gang violence. We address these problems through interactive
workshops that help children understand and have compassion
for how and why people find themselves in such unfortunate
circumstances and then, how to avoid making the same mistakes.
