My trees shall not fall
though the ice should weight
them
for they are tall and solid
for they know much of burdens
for they are proud in their bowing.
My trees shall not fall
though the wind should break
them
for they are wise and many
for they have much of knowing
for they shall heal and grow
again
My trees shall not fall
though mens' steel should cut
them
for they are deep and rooted
for they are strong as men are
weak
for they are old as the earth's
own soul.
