Lizzie's Page

This is Lizzie, for lack of a more original name. She is a one-year-old leopard gecko. She is real tame, but for the most part just hangs out in her home waiting for me to feed her some crickets. You may ask, "why do I have a gecko?" Well, the truth of it is that I love lizards. I used to have an iguana named Bartholomew (or better known as Bart!).

Bart was great, but due to my lack of knowledge, as well as the pet stores inept lack of knowledge, of iguana care, Bart's bones were weak and he had developed a lump of calcium in his belly. After surgery and giving him the light he needed he got better........only to escape his huge cage that I put outside on occasion. Being as tame as he was, I fear the worst. Probably in a belly of something big. But this is not about Bart. This time I went with a leopard gecko, they are the easiest to care for and to keep healthy.

Now, why do I love lizards so much? Well, it all started when I was younger, growing up in the Virgin Islands. I kept lizards around for pets. Even in South Florida as a young teenager, my friend and I fed our lizards worms and crickets that we dug up. Lizards love to bask in the sun. (Lizzie's cousins in the wild, however, are active at night.) I myself like to bask in the sun any chance I get.
