11 Years of Shang Tsung
In this document, I write about Shang Tsung and how I liked him all those years ago.
It is a serious/rambling entry actually. I am just writing what comes to my mind from 11 years ago.
^___^ It is serious, but with a whimsical kind of feel to it
Y'see, Shang Tsung and I, we go back. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back. My first obsession with him was when i was 10 or something.
*cherry blossoms flutter and backdrop gets all fuzzy and some pink crystal bubbles slowly cascade behind Yuffie*
MK2 came out and i was in 5th grade. I remember i got that game for Christmas and i immediatly put it in to play. ^_^ while looking at the different characters i could be, i saw that Shang Tsung was one of em.
I was like......OMG you can BE Shang Tsung????!!!! I always liked bad guys in games and so i was excited. Shang Tsung was my first character to be.
I ended up beating the game with Shang Tsung and i found him to be a really funny guy. When you beat the game with him on MK2, the last line says "The Earth will fall under eternal darkness"
or something like that, then Shang Tsung says "Have a Nice Day" and that line really cracked me up.
When MK3/Trilogy came out, i was happy to see i could be Shang Tsung once again, and this time he was WEARING MAKE-UP!!!!!!! that was just soooo cute, the black make up he put on his eyes to give it that evil look was just tooo much. I ended up being Shang Tsung that halloween.
(WELL KINDA! being a female i wore a shirt of course, but i was able to find a flesh-color type shirt and we made the rest of the outfit.)
It bugged me greatly that Shang Tsung wasn't in MK4. In Deadly Alliance he was simply THE coolest he's ever been! ^_^ I liked how Shang Tsung's other outfit is PINK!!!
I like bishie guys wearing PINK!!!!! And if someone dares to mock Shang Tsung, he'd probably step back, stare at them, then hiss in a deadly creepy voice full of
evil, "YOUR SOUL IS MINE!" then drain the life force outta them. I mean, when you are an evil sorcerer who steals souls, no one's gonna mess with you,
thats for sure! Of course, my fondness for Shang Tsung HAS gotten me into trouble before! ^_^;;; Running around at recess time taunting people by
saying "Your SOUL is MINE" probably wasn't the greatest thing in the world to do! XD XD XD That was a good movie though! and a funny line to say too! XD XD
Back then, i would go around telling classmates that i wanted to marry Shang Tsung. Yes, that's definatly weird for a 10yr old to go around saying, but
heck, at least its original and not like 10yr olds today who want to marry Johnny Depp, Aaron Carter or whatever. Yuck.
And in 5th grade they told us to write a stupid story using our vocabulary words and the story ended up being a story about Shang Tsung stealing souls of Lu Kang and other stupid characters i didn't like in MK2.
I didn't get it, i still dont' get it, i mean, i USED all the darned vocabulary words!
XD Well, maybe an innocent looking 5th grade schoolgirl, small, cute and helpless looking writing a really twisted gory story about an sorcerer,
shape shifter STEALING souls IS pretty creepy !!!! XD XD XD
BOY did i get in trouble for that one. My dad got mad at me and told me that, that game was giving me bad ideas and he woudln't buy me anymore MK games.
MERRRR But then again, i got my fix on tons of Nintendo Power Magazines!!!!! XD XD XD
(But that is what ARCADES in the MALL are for....I got my Shang Tsung fix!) ^_~
He wouln'dt buy me an offical MK halloween costume that year either. But i got my way and when Trilogy came out i dressed like Shang Tsung.
Although i didn't call it "Shang Tsung" i called him "Cool Person in Secret of Mana."
How the hell could they know that he wasn't a Secret of Mana. This is the outfit. Although, my pants were NOT yellow.
they were PINK, his other outfit in that game, well if you are fighting yourself, the double is wearing PINK! And i didn't have the EXACT look of the chest armor, whatever you want to call it,
i made it out of painted paper bag. XD XD i bought a witch wig and cut off the white hair so i could have a long black pony tail, since i had short hair then. Well, thats about it.
My fondness for the sorcerer hasn't changed, it probably never will either.
I'll go through MK game after MK game being the awesomeness that is Shang Tsung until the day i die, or they stop putting him in the game,
and then thats the day i hunt down MIDWAY and email em, write them, and whine at em to put Shang Tsung back in the game!
