Shang Tsung Cosplay
Of course live would not be complete if I did not cosplay Shang Tsung!
Or at least get INSPIRATION from him!!!!!! ^_^
These are some pics of myself as Shang Tsung! I make a very BISHIE Shang Tsung! Just kidding there. Heh heh
My Halloween Cosplay 10/31/04
My mom shook the camera when she took a pic....one day when I let my bangs grow, I will retake the picture!!!!
Shang Tsung's Soulnado - A Delicious Way to Live Forever-
A spoof off of a diet drink. XD! I carried this around with me that evening.
My Straight Sword
My beautiful Straight Sword
The Amulet
Amulet I made in Ceramics Class
Female Shang Tsung
Insprational picture of what I think Shang Tsung would look like had he been female. XD
How I achieved the look:
First of all, I bought the pattern for a bathrobe. I omitted the front of it, I only sewed the back
and the arms and I cut a slit up the back of the outfit.
Next I proceeded to take MANY digital pictures of Shang Tsung as I possibly could.
That is because I needed to see the designs for his robe.
I printed out pictures and I copied the design on the robe and scarf thing he wears
I bought Tulip Fabric Paints Dandelion Yellow Matte for the yellow. The black was Black Matte, same company, Tulip.
.
Each day I did one part. One side of the outfit at a time.
I secured the outfit on the ironing board and used it as base to lean on.
The shoes I spray painted silver and painted the yellow accents on.
The sword I bought Aragon's Sword from Lord of the Rings at Party City.
I spray painted the hand gold and bronze and the sword blade silver.
The shin guards were part of a knight's leg guards.
Silver spray painted them again
Spray paint became my best friend......XD
The chest plate I bought and covered the front in paper mache. I had to cover the nipples and the stone lion face. It was silver-ish
Well, time for SPRAY PAINT (copper) to help me out after I paper mached the pattern to look like SHang Tsung's armor.
I had to let the armor piece dry throughly before anything. I took 3 days to be exactly sure it was dry
The pants I bought in a store and the V-neck undershirt thing was given to me.
As for the belt-ish thing Shang Tsung wears, that was the easy part!!! XD
a strip of fabric, and viola! I am done!
The arm guards were easy as well, I bought safety gear and spray painted it copper!
Ahh spray paint....you served me well! XD!
A note on that, the elbow pads go on your elbows while the knee pads on your shoulder blades
and a second note, do take precaution not to spray the velcro on the elbow and shoulder pads.
the gloves are dickies gardening gloves.
And most important, do NOT forget Shang Tsung's hair pieces!! If you look closely here:
You can see his hair is bound and it is VERY VERY cute!
His hair style is rather easy to mimic, to tease the bangs up, wet them and use a rolled hair brush and lots of G 2 B GLUED hair stuff and hair dry it in place.
Hair spray is a MUST have! hehe.
as for the beard, you can draw it on with an eyeliner PENCIL.
and if you want those green eyes, Natural Touch Ciba Vision Contacts are a must have, if you can get them
that is what I used. ^.^ and I am rather anal enough to go that far!
But then again, I DO need contacts, so it is all good!
The whole outfit, I am estimating cost easily over 100. I didn't sit there and calculate it up.
One can of silver and gold paint is enough, but I found myself using two bottles of copper.
The robe I bought velour fabric.
He probably wears fine silk, but silk doesn't mix well with fabric paint, and that paint does go on rather thick....
velour would go over good with Shang Tsung too. ^_^ hehehehe
The Amulet I made in Ceramics Class. ^.^ first i molded the shape, then I
fired it once, got it back in Bisque format, then I crushed up green glass
and put it in the middle
make sure to make a valley for the glass to sit in!!!
when it goes in a high fire, the glass melts making that cool effect!
But then, make sure your supervisor is ok with you doing that to the kiln.
Not ALL ceramic teachers approve!! ^_^
After you get it home, you take gold spray paint and spray!
Of course, it is probably self explainitory, but....cover the glass so you don't spray it!!! XD
The soulnado drink is easy to make, all I did was take a soul off of the Shang Tsung Soulnado picture and
used paint to put the words on it! ^.^
I hope that guide helps everyone figure out how to cosplay Shang Tsung!!!!
