In 1999, I was a dumb kid at the age of 10. The Dreamcast was the new hotness, and Sonic Adventure was a mindblowing display of its power. Because of my excitement for the new Sonic game, and my fondness for the Genesis tetralogy, I created the stupid screenname of Shane Prower.
I was interested in making my own webpages based on the Sonic franchise, and set to work making Geocities pages talking about the games. While involved with the comparatively small Sonic community of the time, I had heard about the now famous Simon Wai Sonic 2 Prototype, and my interest in game development started to take form.
Like most other Geocities sites at the time, my site sat neglected and unfinished. I decided that with my newfound interest in game development, I would make my site about Sonic game development. However, it never got much further than a redesign stage in 2006.
While getting into game design, I found that some people make their own Sonic games. I reached out to these developers of these games to learn more about how they made them. This lead me to getting involved in the Sonic Fan Games Headquarters community.
The site seemed to hit a brickwall in 2011, and went down in early 2015. I had archived the entire site in 2014, thinking some internet history may get lost sooner or later.
While the site came back up for SAGE 2016, it does appear that my prediction of the classic Sonic fan games getting lost came true. At least, in part.
Now introducing this site's new purpose: to bring back the pain and misery of Sonic Fan Games from yesteryear under a regretful name.
