The band originates from work colleagues based at a publishing firm in Swiss Cottage, London.
In the beginning the idea was to have a seven piece covers band but three of us wanted to write original material.
Steve, Russell and Shane formed Hummer and immediately started to write new stuff.
One small problem, however, was that none of us could sing (or were prepared to sing Russ!)
The original band began to fizzle out and it was decided to merge into one group and taking Steffi with us for backing vocals and songwriting. And then we found Chris..............
Chris is an undoubted talent as a singer/songwriter/guitar player but is always on the wind-up and so drives Shane mad!
After weeks of debating we were forced to change the bands name in a hurry and in a flash of inspiration and one million emails later we settled on Wood Road. (I am still sorry for shouting at you Steff....Shane xx)
