A Sunny Day!

This musing came about while I was trying to tell a friend of mine about a
special summer day at Bancroft.
Oh, what a beautiful sunny day! It is a bit on the warm side, but it
is "no sweat off my nose". At my stage in life, warmth is a welcome
comfort for my bones. As I look around, I see some people running about in
shorts and T-shirts drenched in sweat regardless of the light apparel that
they are wearing. But there are some other people who look like they have
stepped out of a fashion magazine! And oh, they look cool as cucumbers!
The ladies and girls look smart in flaring skirts - their bows and ribbons
twirling in the breeze. Meanwhile, the others, who are in tight jeans
secretively trying to get some air between their skin and the clinging
fabric, cast an envious eye to the ones that get fanned by their skirts
and scarves. To top it off, the ladies' hats are a sight to behold! Ah
yes, the straw hats with flowers and ribbons are coming back. I too have
joined the hat people! It looks like we are trying to outdo one another! I
like it! Mind you, those wide brim hats are hard to come by. But with
conviction and strong determination one is able to find a rare one here
and there. I have two hats. One is light yellow and the other one is a
shade darker. With my collection of colourful scarfs, I can make any one
of them match my modest wardrobe. I feel beautiful, stylish and classy!
Those are three words that are gradually creeping in to todays' rough
vocabulary. Decorated in my wide brim hat dipped at a most nonchalant
angle, tagged with the most appropriate scarf almost decadent in its
insistence to match my fluid skirt, I feel as if I've stepped into a dream
come true! I think it is just grand that women are starting to recognise
the beauty and freedom in the choice of clothing available to them, even
if the practical styles of yesteryear may seem to be forgotten. Kick up
those heals girls, let your skirts fly and watch those bleeding eyes
follow your every move!
