Where are we supposed to go? I asked Krys
How should I know? She asked. I sighed.
I dont know. I just thought maybe,
I think were supposed to go to the office, she answered
That shouldnt be too hard, I said as I looked around the school. It wasnt like the school Id previously been to. Instead of having all the lockers in one room near the cafeteria they were lined up along the walls. It was a hell of a lot bigger. There was three floors instead of just two, there was also more than one gym. Krys and I continued on our walk down the crowded hall.
Right there, she pointed after a few minutes. I followed her as she walked towards an office.
Excuse me, she said Were new here and we dont know where to go,
What are your names? the lady behind the desk asked
Krystal Parker and Kenna Parker,
K-R-Y-S-T-A-L?
Yeah, Krys answered. The lady put something into the computer before looking at Krys and asking if her parents had called.
My aunt Jane should have, Krys answered. The lady nodded.
Well, We have a Kenna. But theres no Krystal, Krys sighed.
What do I have to do? She asked. The lady smiled and handed her a few forms before turning to me.
Youre Kenna? she asked. I nodded and she handed me a piece of paper that had my schedule, locker number and combination on it. My eyes widened.
Seven classes? I asked. The lady nodded. I sighed. How long are you gonna be? I asked Krys
Go on without me, She said Ill meet you here at lunch,
Alright, I said before walking out of the office. I still couldnt believe they could squeeze seven classes in one day. Id only had four before. My guess was they had the same schedule all year long. Which would mean that I was ahead in four classes and behind in the other 3. I sighed as I approached the locker that was supposedly mine. There was a boy that was a few inches shorter than Josh digging in it. I walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.
Huh? He said as hw whipped around
Is this locker 342? I asked
Yeah, he answered. I sighed.
Do people normally share lockers around here? I asked a little irritated. He nodded a simple yes.
Youre new here?
No shit,
Im Shawn, He answered I take it they stuck you with me?
Yeah, I answered Im Kenna by the way, He moved out of the way as I moved to put my crap in the locker.
Whats your schedule like? He asked. I handed it to him without a word.
Weve got block 1,3,6 and 7 together, he pointed out. I nodded.
Maybe now I wont get lost, I answered
Its impossible to get lost here, He said
Well if the school youve just been to only had about 400 people compared to this,
Woah, He said Thats...small, I nodded.
I guess, I said Why do you have 7 classes?
Why wouldnt I? he asked
Its just a little strange, I said. He gave me one of those looks like I had and extra head.
I only had four a day, I said Do you have the same classes all year long?
Yeah, he answered as the bell rang. I looked at him expectantly. What? he asked
Lead the way, I said. He laughed and we started walking.
Didnt you have the same classes all year? I shook my head.
Nope. Finals were supposed to begin at the end of the month, then wed do our other four classes, I explained. He nodded.
Youll be ahead in a few classes then? he asked
I dont know, I said What are you learning in math?
Something to do with analytic geometry, he answered as we entered a classroom. I groaned. What? he asked
I thought I was finished with that crap back in November,
Yeah. He said Id say you were ahead,
Does it matter where we sit? I asked. He shook his head.
You can come and sit with me, He said Seeing as you really dont know anyone and you can help me with these lines, I laughed.
Thanks, I said and sat down in the desk beside him.
