The next morning Kenna woke up to the loud buzzing of her alarm clock. She immediately knew what was ahead that day. She'd fly to Florida and be there in time for her audition. She rolled out of bed, and threw on the clothes she had already decided on wearing and ran down stairs.

"So when does your plane leave hun?" her mom asked, when she walked into the kitchen.

"In 4 hours" Kenna replied, getting a bagel.

"You're all packed?" Kenna's mom, Melanie, asked

"Yeah mom," Kenna answered while spreading cream cheese on her bagel

"You've got your reservations for the hotel?" Melanie question

"Yup, all that needs to be done is for me to catch my flight and check into my hotel"

"Okay, you do realize I still don't want you to go right" Melanie asked.

"Yea I know mom, and I know your only letting me, because I want it so bad" Kenna said, giving her mom a quick hug, before running back upstairs. Kenna picked up the phone and dialed a very familiar number.

"Hello?" a sleepy voice answered

"Hey sleepy head," Kenna laughed

"Kennie is that you?" The voice of Kenna's boyfriend Josh asked

"Yeah," Kenna answered

"What are you doing up so early?" He asked

"My flight leaves in a few hours," Kenna said

"My mom decided to let me go since I made all the arrangements by myself,"

"Give me 20 minutes and I'll be right over," Josh said before hanging up

**20 minutes later**

"Ken, there's someone here for you" her mom hollered from down stairs.

"Coming!" Kenna said, turning off her stereo, and running down stair.

"Hey babes" Josh said when she walked into the hallway.

"Hey!" she said, giving him a huge hug.

"How am I gonna survive without those while you are gone" Josh asked, teasingly.

"I'm sure you'll find a way" Kenna said, kissing his lips lightly "I'll probably only be gone a few days," Kenna laughed

"I don't think so," Josh said You'll probably be gone for years, I know you can make it,"

"Yeaah," Kenna said, standing on her tip toes to give him another kiss. She was only short, about 5'2", while he was about 6'3".

"You're too short," Josh laughed lightly. Kenna started to laugh too, but she suddenly stopped to study his features. His hair was black, which made his blue eyes stand out, and his skin was pale. He still had that part down the middle thing going on. Kenna must have been staring for a while because Josh suddenly spoke up "What are you looking at?" He asked "Do I have toothpaste on my cheeks or something?" Kenna laughed at him.

"I was just looking at you," She said. Josh smiled down at her. Kenna's dark brown hair was pulled up into a messy bun. Her tanned face seemed to be glowing and her honey brown eyes were sparkling. His arms were still wrapped around her small body. Kenna smiled back at him. She grabbed his hand and led him to the living room where they sat on the couch in silence.

"so what time are you leaving" Josh asked finally, after sitting there for 10 minutes.

"In about an hour" Kenna replied, looking at her watch, and then back at him.

"Oh man Kennie, I'm going to miss you" Josh said, pulling her close to him.

"Oh baby, I'm going to miss you too" Kenna said, as their lips met. The couple was kissing for a few minutes before the phone rang.

"I better get it," Kenna said "It's probably Farah,"

"hello?" Kenna asked when she picked up the phone.

"Hey, just wanted to wish you good luck before you left" the voice came through the line.

"Oh thanks Grannie, that means a lot to me" Kenna said, looking at Josh who was doing the awww face, and stuck her tounge out at him.

"Don't stick it out unless you plan to use it" Josh whispered

"shush" Kenna laughed

"honey what are you laughing at?" Kenna's grandma asked

"Nothing Grannie," Kenna replied "Just Josh,"

"Oh, I didn't know you were still with him,"

"Yeah," Kenna answered

"that's so sweet" her grannie said, "well I should let you go dear, so you can finish getting ready"

"Okay, thank you for calling Gran," Kenna said

"Good luck dear, I know you can do it" Grannie said before hanging up the phone. Kenna hung up the phone, and turned to Josh

"And what's up with you making a comment like that with my grandmother on the phone" Kenna asked, with a fake stern face.

"aww babe," Josh laughed "Don't go all serious on me now," Kenna wasn't able too keep her straight face because he was looking straight into her eyes. She sat back down beside him and he wrapped his arms around her.

"I love you," she whispered. Josh looked down at her. It was the first time she had ever said the words to him. Kenna looked up at him and they made eye contact.

"I love you too," Josh said before kissing her

"Kenna, we have to get going, we don't know how traffic is going to be, and you don't want to miss your flight" her mom said, coming into the living room.

"Yea, I know" Kenna said, not taking her eyes away from Josh.

Yea, I should be going too, I have to get ready for work" Josh said, finally pulling away from Kenna, but not breaking the eye contact.

"Call me as soon as you get to the hotel" Josh instructed, giving her one last kiss.

"Okay, I will" Kenna said

"See you later Ma'am" Josh said to Kenna's mother, and opened the door.

As soon as he was out the door Kenna turned to her mother and gave her a hug. As soon as she pulled away Kenna ran up the stairs and came back down with her medium sized suitcase. Melanie already had the keys and had her jacket on.

Kenna put down her suitcase and pulled on a dark blue jean jacket over her navy tank top. Once they were in the car Kenna turned on the radio.

"I'm a Slave....4 u" Kenna began to sing, as the new Britney Spears song came through the speakers.

"You know, that's going to be you one day very soon, I'm gonna jump in the car, turn on the stereo, and hear my baby girl singing" Melanie said, getting all teary eyed.

"Mom, it will be okay. Even if I do make it, which I seriously doubt, I will still be the same person I always have been. Nothing will change" Kenna promised

"I know," Melanie said "But even if you don't get into this group, You'll still end up on the radio like that," Kenna laughed

"Thanks mom," Melanie looked at Kenna and smiled lightly

"I 'm only telling the truth," she said. Kenna smiled back at her mother.

"I hope so,"

"So you know what you're going to sing?" Melanie asked

"Yeah, I think so," Kenna answered "Hero by Mariah Carey, or Supergirl by Krystal. Im not too sure which one I wanna do,

"Do Hero, you sound so pretty when you do that song" her mother suggested.

"Okay, I will take that into consideration" Kenna smiled.

"Well we're here" Melanie said as they pulled thro the gates of the airport. "Oh gosh, I am really going through with this, its so surreal" Kenna whispered to no on in particular.

Melanie looked at her daughter as she drove around the parking lot. Once the car was parked they got Kenna's bag and went inside. It wasn't too long before they were calling Kenna's flight.

"I love you mah," Kenna said as she hugged Melanie

"I love you too sweetie," Melanie replied "Good luck," Kenna let her mom go and boarded her plane.
