Israel
These two pictures are of the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem.  It was an amazing feeling to be there surrounded by so many other Jews.  There were two things I found very interesting about the Wailing Wall and the surrounding area.  First of all, the amount of security is amazing.  Metal detectors and armed soldiers at every entrance.  Of course, some of the entrances are for men (most of them) and some are for women, since even at the entrances the men and women are kept separate.  We even had our purses searched by the guards.  It was unreal, but I did feel safer than in England where all the police carry are knives...a gun versus a knife...which do you think is going to win?  The other thing that I found interesting, and not a good thing, was the way the Wall is divided.  The men, of course, get to use most of the wall for their praying, while the women get a much smaller area.
This is a picture of my Aunt Rachel and my cousin Chanatova that I took when I met them for the first time in January 2000.  That's when I made my first trip (and hopefully not last) to Israel.  While I have corresponded with Chana since I was a little girl, it was really great getting a chance to finally meet all of them.  I also met my three other cousins (Chana's brothers) but unfortunately, I did not get any pictures of them.
This is a picture of my Uncle Tuvia (a rabbi in the Tel Aviv area) and myself in fornt of the Mediterranean Sea.  It was so beautiful!  This picture does not do justice to the blueness of the sea.
