How a floppy disk is read ?
A floppy disk is inserted into a slot in the computer. Pushing down the lever above the slot moves a cone down through the disk's central hole to seat the disk on a flywheel. A small motor drives the flywheel and spins the disk. An electromagnetic read/write head reaches the different parts of the disk surface through the head-access slot in the disk's protective jacket.
