'The Press Conference'
The scene opens rather abruptly in a large room set up for a press conference. Many chairs are stood side by side all along the room. They are set up by six chairs on each row, with the numbers of rows being eight. Many people are beginning to take their seats and all kinds of news companies are in attendance. A microphone for each person time stand where four seats are positioned behind a large brown table which stretches nearly across the stage. CNN, FOX News, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Sky News, BBC World News, and many more are reviewing their questions.
Beginning to arrive, a side door opens and three men and a woman, dressed in brown and grey suits, begin to walk to their positions. The camera's begin rolling and cameraman begin taking photo's of the officers. We know two of them as the lead investigators Agent Carling and Agent Johnson in the murder of Nicky Mills, a professional wrestler who was rumoured to have been participated in many murders and drug deals. What could this press conference be about? And have any developments taken place? As the officers are seated, Agent Carling begins to speak into his microphone. Also, a large projector stands behind the table projecting an image onto the screen of the projector company.
Agent Carling:
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for attending on such short notice. My name is Agent Stephan Carling and I am an agent working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the murder of wrestler Nicholas Mills. We apologize if we have kept you waiting. I will now turn things over to my partner who has some news for you. Agent Johnson.
His partner positions his microphone and puts his finger on it to check that it is operating correctly before speaking.
Agent Johnson:
My name is Agent William Johnson and I too am an agent working for the FBI on this case. The person sitting on my left is the chief of this investigation, Agent Paul White. On my very far right, sitting next to Agent Carling, is Professor Walter Krotz, who performed the autopsy of Mr Mills' body. On behalf of the FBI, we thank you for helping us with this case and co-operating with all knowledge you have about him.
It is my duty to inform you that we have conducted an investigation into Nicholas Mills' death. The findings that we know at this time is that this was obviously a planned murder. He was shot twice in the head and died immediately at the scene. We are in no doubt that indeed, this man is Nicholas Mills. We have spoken to many of our informants who tell us that this was rather an inevitable murder. From what we know, he was the leader of a giant Mafia family which had a business in not only drugs, but many other illegal operations under his command. Apart from being a professional wrestler, we also have information that this man murdered many Mafia chiefs. This has been stated by many informants who worked with him.
However, we must find out who was responsible for his murder. We cannot let this man's death go no matter what he was allegedly involved in. We also understand his last whereabouts. On the 17th June 2005, the day that an edition of TNT Sunday Mayhem was taking place, Nicholas Mills was reported missing by close associates of his. On this day, he came out of hiding and it is known that he visited the New York Downtown Hospital at five minutes past nine.
He was caught on CCTV footage entering and leaving the hospital. It is known that he visited a close friend of his, Jonny Fly, who he had assaulted on a wrestling show. We do not know why exactly or what was said in the visit, and he left half an hour later and was seen two hours later, at 22:05 going towards the New York dock. We have also found out that Mr Mills had hired a boat under the name 'Terry Rogers'. Now we understand that he was planning to leave the United States because of the fact that the Mafia was rumoured to have put a contract on his head for a million dollars, although our informants cannot confirm this because of the lack of knowledge. And we believe that upon arrival at the dock, Mr Mills was confronted and indeed shot twice in the head by an unknown man. Eyewitnesses cannot identify the man, but know that the murderer was accompanied by another man. It's also knowledge that Nicholas knew his killers and so did not take action when confronted. Police found a gun on him but it was not fired at any stage.
His body was found by a passer by walking his dog the following morning at approximately twenty minutes to eight and immediately reported the discovery to police. We are about to show you a CCTV image of Nicholas Mills' arriving at the New York downtown hospital.
Quickly, an image pops up of the hospital entrance. Indeed, the identity is obvious as we know his face. He is wearing a white best with a black leather jacket and a pair of black leather pants.
Did you see this man anywhere else in New York or the downtown docks? Was he acting suspiciously or did you see him approach anyone? If you have any more information whatsoever about him, please contact your local police station and they will take a statement from you. We will do this confidentially so your identity will not be revealed to anyone but the police. Despite what this man was rumoured to have done, this murder was cold blooded and we must find the killers before they strike again. They must not be allowed to get away with what has occurred.
However, we have decided that Mr Mills' body is not needed any more in our investigations and so we are releasing his body to his closest family for burial.
Some loud gasps are heard and the camera's continue to snap while the officer takes a drink of water. Agent Stephan Carling then begins to speak, making sure that the silence of Agent Johnson has not been noticed.
We will now be taking questions from the press.
Every reporter lifts up their hands and knows not to shout or bellow their questions as they know the police will not respond in this manner. Agent Carling points the reporter from CNN, who stands up. A medium built man with oily hair and wearing a grey suit begins to speak.
CNN Reporter:
Thomas Walter, CNN News. Have you investigated more claims that a confession by Mr Michael Wilson from TNT Wrestling that he and Mr Mills were responsible for the Skydome bombings back in 2004 for an insurance scam?
As you know, the Central Intelligence Agency had ruled Mr Mills out of the enquiry, and despite the 'confession', we understand that this was said as means of angering the crowd.
What about the insurance payout?! Surely this man's confession now means that Michael Wilson can be brought to trial.
His on air persona and his backstage feelings are two different things.
The man writes this down and eventually sits back down. A reporter from FOX News is pointed out who stands up. A long black haired pretty woman then begins to ask her question.
FOX News Reporter:
Are the allegations true that Nicky Mills was the head of his own 'Mafia' family and controlled narcotics? And do you know whether he was responsible for the New York Christmas Massacre and the Bamboo House killings in which his brother's body was found at the scene?
For those who are unaware, Nicky Mills first got involved in crime when he, along with former friend Jonny Fly, wiped out the entire 'Lunacchio' family for the death of his younger brother who was killed by two corrupt CIA agents. The Bamboo House killings were retaliation for the killings and it is rumoured that Nicky Mills and Jeremy Cundiff were in the restaurant at the time where Santino Lunacchio, the son of Don Vincent Lunacchio, took revenge. He was found a day later hanged in an abandoned warehouse. Nicky' brother's body was planted at the scene, but we never really found out what this meant. Agent Johnson is troubled by the question and answers it.
Those incidents had absolutely nothing to do with Mr Mills and we are still unsure as to what the motive for these killings were and who occurred them. But we DO now know from informants that yes, the allegations that Nicky Mills controlled his own 'Mafia' family are indeed true. And the body of Mark Mills was planted at the scene, but we know that he was involved in some illegal operations as well which resulted in his murder. We are still investigating these claims however.
The reporter sits down, not satisfied with the answers and shows this by grumbling upon writing the answers down. Agent Carling points the 'Pro Wrestling Illustrated' reporter out who stands up. A well build man with blonde hair which is well cut so that it is rather short begins to speak.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated Reporter:
James Smith, Pro Wrestling Illustrated. There is a report of a video circulating the internet showing a 'will' by Nicky Mills in case of his death. Can you...
Excuse me?
Well, there is a video of him in case he was killed...
We are not aware of any such tape.
TNT are going to air it soon on their network because they own it. Are you aware of this?
After almost silence in the room and no answer to the question, Agent Carling stands up and leaves the room. Soon, the other officers and the professor leaves too and the reporters are left in shock as the press conference abruptly fades to black.
You held back information, Mrs Williams. That is a criminal offence, you know.
The scene quickly opens in the office of TNT owner 'Andrea Williams' who is sitting at her desk looking at both FBI agents. Reed Harrington is also in the room watching the conversation take place while the police are grilling Andrea. She eventually speaks up, a hint of anger in her voice.
Andrea Williams:
Do not try to intimidate me.
Watch me. By the time I'm done with you, your going downtown for withholding evidence.
Excuse me? I didn't withhold anything.
Oh really? Bullshit. How can some petty reporter and the entire internet get a video of him before we do then?
Because your too stupid to know anything. You look in the wrong places.
Hey, darling. Your about to be arrested, so if I were you, I'd know what to say.
Reed suddenly clears his throat which alerts the agents who immediately set their eyes on the commissioner.
Reed Harrington:
Are you two quite finished?
No.
Then allow me to interrupt.
Harrington walks from behind Andrea towards the agents and takes the videotape from the desk.
First of all, never come in here and threaten my boss. Just because your agents doesn't mean you have the right to intimidate someone who has never been in trouble with the law. And secondly, get your facts right. We only received this tape today, and we actually copied this tape for you to review. It's not exactly groundbreaking as far as your investigation goes.
We'll be the judge of that.
You know, a man once said you can get far with a kind word but further with a kind word and a gun. I think that was Al Capone, right?
What?
Okay, so you come in here threatening my boss without even letting her have a chance to explain and you didn't even have your gun. Tell me, do you guys always carry weapons?
Huh? What does that have to do with this?
I'm curious. Maybe next time, you won't intimidate the people who are trying to help you. But okay... allow me to tell you what I know. This videotape was sent straight from Nicky's lawyer because he wanted this aired on television. And the only people who were allowed to review this videotape are the owner of TNT, the commissioner and the general public when it is released. Unless you gentlemen have a search warrant, you have no right to be here.
We want the videotape.
No. And if you threaten me once more, I'll have you thrown out of the building. You have no search warrant, and you storm in here threatening to arrest me. So maybe you had better choose your words carefully.
We could still arrest you for withholding evidence...miss.
Fine. But what will it accomplish?
You spend more time wasting time than you do investigating. If you want the tape, then watch it when we air it. Tape it and see for yourself what's said.
We're FBI agents. We could arrest you two and take the tape anyway.
Are you really that stupid? We helped you and now your trying this silly routine to intimidate us. Your not getting this tape and that's that.
Andrea... wait a minute.
Yes?
I know Jeremy would want you to do this, but these men want this videotape. If they are going to go through means to get it, then let them have the copy.
Copy?
Yes. We DO make copies of things, you know. Even though you don't have a search warrant, and you have the nerve to try get your means this way, we will let you take it as a means of co-operation.
Hey! I make the rules here! And I aint giving these officers shit.
Andrea... please. Don't let this get out of hand.
Why? These officers have spent more time demeaning him than to find out who killed him.
Look, um, we're trying to get to the bottom of things. We need the videotape to see whether we can get any new information.
Andrea lies back on her chair and the taking the copy of the tape from her drawer, places it on the table.
It's alright, Andrea.
Thank you for your...co-operation.
Get out.
We'll be in touch.
The officers eventually turn and walk out of the room which leaves Andrea to shake her head and Reed to pat her on the back to console her as the scene fades to black.
